Hang Drying Without A Clothes Line

I haven’t gotten my new clothes line up yet, but there are some things that really need to be hung to dry, especially cloth diaper covers. I can toss my diapers in the dryer, but the vinyl diaper covers need to be hung.
For a while I had diaper covers hanging all over my house, anywhere I could find to drape them… over door knobs, cabinet handles, clinging to the blinds. Until one day I had an “Ah ha!” moment:
Hang them on the shower curtain with clothes pins!!
So, this has been working very well for me. You probably laugh at how simple this idea is, but hey, it works for me!! Maybe it will work for you too!
*You can also hang your shirt and other things on clothes hangers, and hang them from the shower rod to dry.

Oh, Kendra, Kendra, Kendra…There are so many more options for hanging clothes indoors…
Put another shower rod above the tub (or across the bathroom from wall to wall; or from wall to wall in the laundry room; or across the hallway; etc.) to instantly make more room for hanging shirts, sleepers, onesies, etc. on hangers. If you don’t have a drying rack, pants can be hung from the leg cuffs on a hanger (use clothespins). Telephone line can be strung from wall to wall in the laundry room to hang socks, undies, bras, and other small or short clothing items. Sheets can be hung over doors to dry. Towels can be hung on hangers by folding in half long-ways and hung on the hanger with clothespins. I have not owned a dryer in YEARS, and we get along quite well without one. (And we have three children, so I can honestly say that it can work for large-ish families!)
And I love your idea of hanging small things on the side of the shower curtain. Brilliant!
amy,
Great tips. Thanks!! That would be much more useful for bigger stuff
this is something i use year round.
Clip and Dry – Blue by Whitmor found it on amazon.com cost $8.99
I also found a round one at our local amish store $5.99
love your blog.
I love, love, love those plastic clip style hangers that you get at stores with pants for this. They will hold anything/anyweight to dry, and you can hang them wherever. There are nails along the (decorative) beams in our log cabin–I use those, but shower rod would work, even the closet itself, if empty enough to allow good air circulation.
I tend to hang all our *unmentionables* inside with these, as our clothesline has pretty good visibility for anyone driving by.
