I went to the library a couple of days ago to get the kids some books, and found myself wandering out of the children’s books and into the adult’s section (something I never do!). As I browsed, I came to a section on Herbal Remedies.

After looking through several books, I came across this one called The Complete Medicinal Herbal. I checked it out and have been devouring it. I LOVE it!

This book has everything. I love that it has nice colorful photos of each herb in it’s different forms. It also has a section on how to make teas, tinctures, creams, infused oils, creams and more all from your own homegrown herbs. It even tells how to dry and store them.

I especially love the section on Childhood Ailments. It lists many common childhood problems, names a few herbs that help, and gives the exact dosage amount for your child’s age.

This book has it all. I hated that I have to return it soon, so I just bought a used one from Amazon.com for $8 shipped! Not bad, huh?!

Thought I’d pass this along to those of you interested in Natural Remedies!

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve been starting to look around for a good book on herbs and making herbal remedies, so this sounds just perfect and the price is definitely right. I’m all about used books. :)

I bought this book through Amazon and it was very reasonably priced. The book is informative but simplifies it so it is very easy to understand. I like books that get to the point without a bunch of gobbledigook added in. I will probably end up getting this book for my mom for Mother’s Day. She would rather have something like this than flowers or candy anyday. Thanks Kendra for suggesting it.

    Lisa,

Glad you liked it! You sound like me, I don’t want all the technical mumbo jumbo, I just want to know in layman’s terms what it’s used for and how to make it! Thanks for your review!

on your recommendation I picked this up through amazon and did a little better, $7.50 shipped, amazing price for a hardcover with SO many color photographs (it was used). i like the format, but my only complaint is that it doesn’t seem to cover enough ailments that can occur, but for the price I’m not complaining.
