Good As New Patent Leather Shoes
I thought this would be a good post just before Easter, seeing as this morning I spent a few minutes shining up my daughter’s new-to-her little white dress shoes for church tomorrow.
I like to buy larger sized kid’s shoes at yard sales and thrift shops so that I am prepared ahead of time, and don’t find myself in a pinch when my child suddenly doesn’t have any shoes that fit. I hate it when I am forced to buy them new for lack of time to look!
Let’s face it though, used dress shoes usually aren’t in the best shape. More times than not they are scuffed up, and a little dirty. But you know what, that’s okay! See, us thrifty mama’s, we get a good deal because someone thinks the shoes are just dirty and ruined.
We know a little secret…
Nail polish remover will get rid of those scuffs in no time!
See the scuff? Looks impossible to remove to an untrained eye…
I used nail polish with acetone, but any kind works. Just wet a cottonball, rub the scuff and… Voilà
Good as new!
Have a Happy Easter!!

Wow–that’s something I haven’t heard before! Thank you!
P.S. I really love how you have your website organized. I’ve read it from the beginning and love how easy it is to navigate around on it. My husband and I are slowly getting into the homesteading lifestyle too, in Indiana. Our next new experience is welcoming 10 chickens next week!
I had no idea that would work. How easy! Thanks for the tip!
