I know I'm late in responding to this... just recently stumbled on the blog. But I am compelled to respond to to this. I totally agree with comments made by Terilyn and Stacia. Each to his own, but I prefer the old time
a cappella songs in worship. I love them, and I'm not there to be entertained! And I don't think God cares if the music is "in tune" by our ears! I think he hears the music in our hearts. My dad and his dad were preachers... and I remember during my high school years, we regularly had "get-togethers" or "singings" at our house. Singings were great! Everyone brought snacks, casseroles, and lots of pies and desserts-but the PIES were the best part!!! And I wish I could turn back time and go back and learn how to bake them all from those wonderful ladies!! Those were wonderful times...

Addy's church sounds so much like ours, and i absolutly adore it. We have a church out in the country, where my father group up and his siblings and most of my cousins and such still go there. We sing beautiful hymns, we have an old fashioned alter that gets its use, and we have some of the kindest, most genuine people I've ever been around. I love bringing my kids up in such a wonderful , faithful fellowship. Thank you for your beautiful post!

I enjoy reading your posts. I just found this website and find that our families are very much alike although we live in Pennsylvania and we only have one child we long and strive to have a simplified lifestyle.
I agree with you about the word of God. I hold that same conviction I think we need to have the word with us at all times. Addys church seemed to be a nice church I love old fashioned hymns and traditional values and modest dress. :) EMILY

Kendra, this is just the kind of church I go to now. It's in a suburb of Dallas, but the family atmosphere and genuineness is very much there. I grew up in this type of church and got away from church for a few years. When I finally listened to my heart and started back, I tried one of the "overhead projector", professional churches and knew quickly it was not for this country girl. I love the sweet, sincere spirit in our church.

I just found your site, and really like it. I grew up in a "family" church, small enough that everyone knew everyone. I loved it.
When we moved away, we started attending a large charasmatic church just like the one you spoke about. The people are kind, but it is all "professional" rather than "family". Worship is done in a professional way rather than just a family sing-along where people worship with their whole heart no matter how their talent level is.
I wish we could find a smaller, "family" type church without parking attendants. I miss the down home atmosphere.

I go to a country church. It's very small and most of the people who attend are my family. We don't dress up, you're welcome to come in whatever you please. My friend who grew up in California doesn't like my church all that much. But, she loves the people in it. Everyone has a different kind of church where they feel comfortable, some big, some small.
