Homemade Non-Toxic Weed Killer

>8 June 2009 3,152 views

weeds-mediumHere’s a cheap way to make your own non-toxic weed killer from stuff you already use around the house!

  • 1 lb. Table Salt
  • 1 gallon White Vinegar
  • Liquid dish detergent

Dissolve the salt in the vinegar, then add 8 drops of liquid dish detergent. Store in a labeled spray bottle.

Great for spraying grass on gravel driveways! Just be sure not to spray it near any plants you do want to keep :)

That is a great tip! Do you have any ideas for non-toxic insect repellant for the vegetable garden?

    Lisa,
I’ll search my books and see what I can find!

Yea! I’ll have to try this recipe!
And like Lisa, I’d like have an insect repellent recipe, too, if you have/find one.

1 tsp of dishsoap in 4 cups of water. Put in a spray bottle, and spray over the plant to kill aphids and spidermites.

That sounds awesome. I really need something natural to try, instead of the chemicals my landlords keep using. :( Thanks!

Chop up some “can’t spell” habanero peppers = whole and raw in food prossesor. strain with cheese cloth, using rubber gloves. add juice/oil to spray bottle with soap. if you are at the harvesting period , don’t apply a week before. I use it around the base and soil areas to deture a plethera of pests.
