What If We Lost Our Freedom: Copenhagen Treaty

>26 October 2009

I have never in my life been “into” politics. I have never had any interest in government affairs. I’ve always felt too naive to have an opinion. Not anymore.

I don’t intend for this blog of mine to become a political soapbox. But I am increasingly becoming more and more convicted that it is  my duty as a free American to share what I am learning with those who are in the dark.

Our Freedom is being stripped away from us,  slowly and inconspicuously.

Our government has been on a fast track to total control. Government owned banks, government owned auto industry, government run health care…

How well do you know your history? Admittedly, I remember very little from school days. But lately I have been reading a lot. Do you know much about Hitler? Do you have any idea how he gained control of the people?

Let me break it down for you.

1. Hitler created an “emergency” (the Reichstag terrorist crisis). He then persuaded President Hindenburg to issue a decree entitled, “For the Protection of the People and the State.” Supposedly, this decree was to protect the people from violent terrorist acts. In reality it stripped the people of their civil liberties (ie: freedom of speech, communication privacy (wiretapping), house searches, etc.)

Reminds you of 9/11 and the Patriot Act, huh?

2. Hitler took control of the auto industry and the financial industry.

Recent Bailouts ring a bell??

3. Hitler had a theory that the strong should survive and the weak should die.

Sadly, it’s looking like our new Health Care Reforms will echo that philosophy.

Here’s my point. Government is quickly taking over every aspect of our lives. They are trying to control our right to have our own garden and produce our own food. They are trying to silence those who are in opposition to these changes. They are on the road to mandating vaccines!

Pretty soon we may not even have the right to our own bodies. That scares me.

When are we going to wake up? When are we going to snap out of it? When are we going to stop just going about our daily business, completely ignorant to what is going on around us?

Do you even care? Do you want your children to be slaves to the government?

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy my freedom! I want to have the right to own my land. I want to be able to grow a garden and raise livestock to feed my family. I want to be able to make my own choices regarding my family’s health. I want to be able to homeschool my children. I want to be able to protect my home from those who wish to do us harm. I want to be able to talk on the phone or get on the internet without worry that somebody is spying on me. And I should not have to worry that government could come in and take my kids without just cause!

THIS IS FOR REAL PEOPLE!!

It’s time that we get involved. It’s time that we stand up and take our country and our rights back from those who seek to control us. Seriously, it’s time to educate yourself to what is really going on.

Here are two MUST sees which I am strongly urging you to check out:

The Copenhagen Treaty- A One World Government. Obama is due to sign it this December. You have got to read this post. I’ve been wanting to write a post on the Copenhagen Treaty, but Phil has done an excellent job of explaining it. Thanks to Siska for pointing me to this post!

Think it’s not for real? Check out the Count Down to Copenhagen on the UN’s website!

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance loses freedom. It’s time to get educated people. It’s time to get involved.

I’m with you Kendra! :) My husband has always known about/been very aware of what the government has been doing (we helped fund the Nazis!), and it wasn’t until I meet him that I became aware. I am so THANKFUL that I am aware of what is going on. It’s SCARY! PLEASE pay attention people! Our children and grand and great grandchildren will thank us for it!

Why is it that America is just realizing that Obama is doing all these things, but were more than eager to elect him? Nobody even listened to what he wanted to do when he was running for president.

    I know. Frustrating, huh?!

    Kendra,

I love your blog and I’m glad you posted this. I am with you on so many levels. I am nowhere near the homesteader you are, I only have a garden, however, I don’t know why so many people have blinders on. It is very frustrating. I don’t have any children and part of that is out of fear, fear that they will grow up in a socialist/communist country.

My boss is a staunch democrat, and he thinks this is all great. We bicker back and forth sometimes, but usually I just ignore him. I did however tell him this in regards to the Health Care Reform… if the gov’t is going to pay for people to have abortions then they better be prepared to pay for anyone that wants to to be the next Octo-mom, if the gov’t is going to kill the babies, they should be willing to help make them too. Same goes with gastric bypass, if the the new health care reform will pay for counseling for anorexia, it should pay for gastric bypass. I realize these are extreme measure, but it’s just to make a point.

Thanks again for the post. You are spot on!!

Thank you for this info, especially about the treaty. I am outraged and a little taken back. Just the biblical proportion of the matter is frightening. I can’t believe we haven’t heard about this through the media—well, I guess I can believe it. I am passing this on! Just remember, no matter what, our God is still on the throne!

Wow…a very well done film. Makes my stomach turn. You mentioned two videos where is the second?

    Hi, Kendra,
I hope, as you say, that you aren’t going to let your lovely blog become a political soapbox. I’ve been with you since Handprints on the Wall and your blog has always been one of my favorites. I’m at a similar place in my homesteading journey–just mucking around, trying to figure out what’s going on! It’s your blog, so I won’t tell you not to share info that you think is important, but I hope you’ll be sensitive those of us who disagree with you by presenting that information in a slightly less inflammatory way. Liberal Americans are not uneducated, care just as much about what happens in this country as conservatives, and have good reasons for believing what they do. We’re all in this together! The last time right-wing politics came up on the blog I just let it go, but I was upset and a little offended by the aggressiveness of this post and by the content of the Copenhagen Treaty article. It’s fine by me if you share political news from time to time, but I think we liberals would be more comfortable next time if you could do it with more neutrality and maybe a disclaimer, unless you want to start a political smackdown in the comments! ;-) There’s no offense meant—I just felt called to share. Thank you for your understanding, and for all the great work you do around here!

The other video (and article) is in the Copenhagen Treaty link. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video. It is eye opening, to say the least!!

I appreciate your opinion. I hope you don’t think I was pointing my finger at Liberals. I am actually talking to everybody, including myself!! I truly feel, from talking to many people, that the majority of Americans just don’t realize everything that is going on behind our government’s closed doors.

I’d be interested in hearing what you think about the Copenhagen Treaty.

KENDRA, IVE BEEN READING YOUR BLOG FOR A LONG TIME TOO. I AGREE WITH YOUR VIEW ON POLITICS JUDGING BY THIS AND YOUR LAST POST ABOUT THE MARCH IN WASHINGTON, BUT TOO, LIKE LAURA, I READ BLOGS FOR INFORMATIVE, BUT LIGHTER SIDE OF LIFE THINGS. WITH POLITICS, RELIGION FLU SHOTS, (OF ALL THINGS) PEOPLE ARE SO PRONE TO ARGUEING, THAT I DONT CARE FOR THE CONFRONTATION OF IT. THATS NOT TO SAY THAT WE DONT HAVE WHAT I THINK ARE PROBLEMS IN THE COUNTRY THAT ARE UNDOUBTABLY MORE SERIOUS THAN ANY OF US KNOW. I DONT REALLY KNOW WHAT IM GETTING AT! IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO ME TO HEAR A REAL LIBERAL EVERDAY PERSON (NOT SOME YAHOO IN WASHINGTON) SAY WHY THEY THINK WE SHOULDENT WORRY. IF THERE ARE ANY OUT THERE, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THEIR SIDE OF THINGS.

Thanks for your quick response, Kendra! I’m not eager to get into a discussion about these issues, but since you asked, I think taking global action is critically important to reverse dangerous climate changes before it’s too late, which scientists are now saying could be as soon as 2020. This issue is a global one, affecting not only every country and person, but also the rest of God’s precious creation. I feel that the only way to respond to a global issue of this magnitude is to band together globally–to work across international and national boundaries to solve a problem that is hurting us all. If we don’t start trusting each other a little and working together, we might not be able to repair the damage to the environment before it’s too late. I just don’t see how much can be accomplished on this front without some form of global cooperation, I guess, and I don’t put much stock in the opinion of a man who refers to his opponents as “bed-wetting moaning Minnies of the Apocalyptic Traffic-Light Tendency–those Greens too yellow to admit they’re really Reds.” Um, what? I could say a lot more about this issue, but I’ve blathered on enough, probably! See what you got started? :-P

Thank you for indulging me. I don’t want to argue either. I just wanted to hear your side. I definitely do not want my blog to become a political debate forum. I’ll try to stick to lighter things :) I don’t apologize for speaking of my convictions, but I promise politics won’t become the “norm”.

We already don’t have control over our bodies. Just look at how pregnant women are treated. Got bullied into a c-section the first time around? Welp, you’re screwed and must always have a c-section for any other children. Or the FDA that doesn’t really do anything with the general population in mind (just their pocketbooks and the corporations in mind).

It’s been a full 2-3 decades in the making here in the US, it’s just now our freedoms are being stripped away quicker and quicker into the socialist-type realm. I’m sure I’m already on some list because I’m neither a Republican or Democrat, don’t go to a church (whole ‘nother political story there), homeschool, grow and process my own food as I can, do the crazy homebirth thing and on and on. So for those of us who are still fans of the Bill of Rights, yeah, it’s a scary, scary time.

  • Wayne said:

Well my friend we lost our freedom the day we compromised our moral beliefs and values that our Country was built on. No it was not perfect but it sure gave us something to work with. In the late 1800′s we compromised this freedom and set it on the fast track to abandoment. The Goverment is just doing what it was given to do. That is to remove God from the whole picture. For satan knows that when God is removed he has full reign. So this is not new. It was prophecied 3000 years ago. Oboma was set up for such a time as this. To play into satan’s hands. We are called to pray for our Goverment and and meet the needs of the people, not the other way around. The Goverment was never designed to care for the people. We were. It was put in place for security and enforcing laws and commandments. We have only ourselves to blame. By us sitting and turning our attentions the other way, we have become the guilty party.
If we want to make a difference we have to start with ourselves. That which we face in the mirror everyday. I live by a golden rule and that is if there is something about someone we do not like it lives in us.

I am not that into politics either Kendra but this past year or so I have been paying much more attention. While the events going on can cause fear, I believe that they are a call to intercession. We need to pray that God would move the hearts of our leaders, and if not that He would find mercy on us. I have been learning a lot about this in a Bible study we are doing! Thank you for bringing to light these important issues..let us all remember to pray about them. We are not helpless!

Kendra, we all know that basic issues such as politics and religion can strike a nerve in just about any situation, but I would like to encourage you to please keep sharing things you find with us. I have learned a lot and am seeking to know more now. In reality, this is YOUR blog and you have the right to say what you want. We aren’t all going to agree on every subject whether it’s homemaking or political views, but I guess my personal feelings are that if someone doesn’t like it, they can use their freedom to choose not to visit the site.

Laura, in your comments you mention the need for global action to reverse dangerous climate changes before it’s too late. I’m just wondering what you mean by “too late.” What do you think will happen? I’m just curious, I’m not trying to argue, I’m just trying to better understand where you are coming from. Thanks!

I agree with Leslie. Kendra, this is YOUR blog, and you have the right to write on whatever topic you choose. If readers do not like it, they can choose to skip over that particular post and read your other wonderful posts instead. You should NOT be censored. I’m sure that many people have benefited, and most likely roused out of a state of lethargy because of things that you have said. It’s people like you that make common Americans aware of things going on in Washington, that Washington doesn’t care to let the public know in a widespread way.

    Keep on keeping on.

This is what many liberals want: neutralize or even try to stop this kind of speech. Why? They’re all about freedom of speech until conservatives have something to say, then it’s too “inflammatory” or “aggressive”, or not “sensitive” enough to others. No – don’t neutralize anything…think for yourself, stand for your convictions (yes, be a gentle as possible, but you can be gentle and still have a backbone and be FIRM and GROUNDED in your values)

hm, are you just now figuring this out? Not to be sassy, but by about January 2002, it was obvious to those of us who are familiar with history what the heck was going on in this country. But if we mentioned the parallels between 2002 and 2008, we were screamed at for being “Anti-American”. Yep. My ears are still ringing.

And yeah, I hear you with healthcare, but what’s the real difference between that “the strong survive and the weak die” and “the rich survive and the poor die”?

Please tell me the REAL difference between those two. Because what we have now is the latter.

Have you ever actually lived in an industrialized country with socialized healthcare?? I have. Germany. I’ve spent about a third of my adult life there (I’m in my mid-40s). It rocks. I have never had anything but FABULOUS care in Germany. My cousin has lived in Austria for the past 20 years, and her experience has been the very same. A friend of mine who holds both US and German passports has recently left the USA for good because her husband’s disability is bankrupting them with the healthcare bills. He doesn’t speak German, but it’s worth it: she can get him the care he needs in Germany without sacrificing their two little boys’ futures.

I just had lunch the other day with a dear friend who is in a state of abject fear because he is facing mid-60′s without healthcare. He has never had health coverage, because he’s never been able to afford it. He is brilliant, talented, and well-educated, but he never “fit in” to the mainstream and work for a corporation that provides it. He can’t afford to retire any time soon, and he’s a tradesman, so he’ll probably work himself into his grave.

I pay for my and husband’s healthcare out of pocket, because of where I work: we’re required to carry coverage, but my employer does not pay for it. I pay nearly 20% of my monthly gross income to get good quality healthcare. It is almost as much as our rent. We are not rich, but we work very very hard for our money. I am glad that I earn enough to pay for healthcare, because my husband is self-employed, so it would cost more if he bought our coverage.

As things are today, the strong poor people survive without healthcare, but maybe without their teeth (like my friend above) and certainly without a safety net, and the weak poor people die pretty quickly. The strong rich people (like my dad) retire and travel the world and get regular checkups to make sure everything’s ticking properly. The weak rich people spend a lot more time at the doctor’s office and then get strong again, more or less.

    All of them die eventually.

So, tell me, what’s the real difference between that “the strong survive and the weak die” and “the rich survive and the poor die”?

  • Kendra at New Life On A Homestead (author) said:

    MissGlowbug-

I definitely agree that the way healthcare is run right now is not adequate. It is entirely too expensive… believe me, I get that! But, government run healthcare is NOT the way to go for so many reasons. Lowering the premiums of existing health coverage is what needs to be done. How that CAN be done, I don’t know. But I’d rather have NO insurance than government healthcare. And we definitely shouldn’t be FORCED into carrying health coverage!

I don’t believe that just because you are poor you can’t get heathcare in this country. We aren’t exactly rich over here. When my husband broke his leg last year, we did not have insurance to cover the medical bills. The hospital and the doctors worked with us. Most of them either completely wrote off the expenses or greatly reduced what we owed. All we had to do was fill out papers proving our low income. It’s that simple.

So, just because you are poor doesn’t mean that you can’t get quality healthcare in this country.

    Kendra,
I’ve been keeping up with you for quite a while now, and have always connected on account of our similiar interests in pursuing life to it’s fullest on simpler terms. You wear your heart right out there on your sleeve and speak your mind through it and rightly so. You believe in and love, God, your family and your country and I’m sure you want to do everything possible to protect them. I really admire and respect everyone who respects our heritage, what our fore fathers sacrificed in blood and proprty, to enable us, today, to live our lives , as individuals, as we see fit.
I agree we should always listen to others with open minds. But we must never sacrifice our beliefs, or bow down to those who want to silence our thoughts. Laura is as free as everyone to express her opinions, but I am concerned at her effort to supress yours. I’m pleading with you, to continue talking with us as friends, feeling free to express your opinions and not feeling afraid to open up your life to us. Don’t let anyone stifle you thoughts.
My personal thoughts tell me that it was always individuals as opposed to Globalization, that gave us our Constitution, our freedoms, the great medical break throughs, scientific discoveries, music, poetry, all the arts and ways of life.
Globilization sounds cool, up to date, modern and hip. But imagine, for a moment, a world where Iran has a say in how we practice religion, or Cuba or Venizuala tell us how to practice the free market system, or China advising us on product safety, or France advising us on our military or N. Korea having a say in our rights as individuals to bear arms, or Mexico determining our immagration policy, or Russia advising us on enviromental policy, Iceland on farming practices, India on cattle raising, Saudia Arabia on energy consevation, Great Britain on food and beer and I think you get the picture.
I’ll trust in my God, my family and my neighbors anyday. We know what is best for us, and so far, we still have the freedom to pursue that.
I’m enjoying your whole chicken experience. I’m starting a small flock in the Spring and am learning alot. To good living!

    Kendra-
I have enjoyed reading your blog for several years and I am a democrat, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who enjoys your insights. I appreciate your attempts to get involved in politics, even if your political views are different from mine. Too many people are placated into contentedness without thinking about our world’s affairs- they’re too into whatever is on TV! Even though you may consider me a liberal, you and I have many things in common- and that’s what I try to do with everybody I come into contact with- find a common ground. Like you, I have 3 children- a 6yo girl, an almost 4yo boy, and a 3.5 month old boy. I almost had a homebirth with this last one- but I’m glad I didn’t as for some reason that my midwife can’t explain, I lost a liter of blood before they could get the bleeding under control. I have chickens too, my husband and I dream of moving to the country to have a real farm with maybe some goats and some pigs, and we would like to run our own small organic vegetable farm operation. Unlike many liberals, we own guns (although I make my husband use EXTREME caution-we have so many little ones around) in fact, my husband is out deer hunting right now. I love to read about your family and homestead, and your recipes are great. I don’t ask that you censor your blog- it is your creation, after all. I just hope you check your facts out completely before you post, unless, of couse you are posting an editorial. These days, so many people don’t seem to know the difference between fact and opinion- just because you read it on the internet does not mean it’s true!!!! I feel that comparing our current president to Hitler is inappropriate, just my own two cents! Hitler was the most evil man in all history, and to be honest, every president, including Bush, has done some things that could be compared to Hitler. I don’t want to get into that, though, as that is not why I’m writing this. I just want you to know that besides a few political views, you share alot of the same convictions that I do and I’m sure you and I have the same goal – to raise healthy, honest, good children who will grow into happy, productive adults. I look forward to more of your entries. Hopefully, you’ll post some recipes about venison-if my husband was lucky, he’ll be bringing home a buck tonight!
    In Peace,
    Brandie
