Well…. we had a pig.

>21 November 2009

This stinks. The dumb pig ran away. We put her in a chain link pen and went back to check on her like 20 minutes later, and there was no sign of the pig. Bummer!!!!! She must have pushed under the fence or something.

50 bucks down the drain. That’s a hard way to learn a lesson. Maybe, maybe, she’ll be on our back steps in the morning, begging for food!! Hey, I can think positively, right? Okay, okay, I know. Now we’ve got a wild pig running in our woods. Maybe she’ll fatten up and we’ll catch her one day :)

Soooo, I guess we need to have an electric fence up before we get a pig. Aren’t you guys glad it’s me making all of the mistakes and not you? Yet another example of what NOT to do. Ugh.

Oh dear, I’m so sorry and sad for you. When I was in junior high my family moved to the country and had many of these moments. Going from city-folk to country-folk is so hard and has so many mishaps. Hang in there and don’t get discouraged. Who knows, she might show up later. She might come back for food in the morning….but goodness pigs are pretty dumb!

No you now have a feral pig. They are a big problem here in east TN. He will thrive on the neighbor’s garden your garden and will tear up the flora and fauna where he roams. Need to put the juice to the fence and get him caught up. Could be some angry farmers come spring if you have any around.

yes I did miss it hope you got him in the fence for good this time. I don’t think he will take off for good if he came back once he will come back if he gets out again.
I have mine under 3 strands of wire that’s it. Once they hit the wire most times they will never do it again. There is always that one though that will test it daily I have a goat like that. Always getting out
