Cute Cold Frame

>10 February 2010

cold frame

I found this photo on myrubberboots.com, and had to share it with you. I think this is the cutest little cold frame ever! I’d love to have one like it in my yard. Cold frames are good for starting seeds in spring, or for hardening off  seedlings (getting them used to the outdoors) that have been started inside. It can also be used for growing lettuce, spinach, and cabbage through fall and winter.

And this is a CUUUTE one!!

I only see one wheel, so I’m sure the one is just there for looks. However if there where two and the cold frame was a cart, that would be really cool and easy to haul in and out or move it around to catch the sun. I picked up over 30 old storm windows for free off of Craigslist. Seeing this picture has me excited to put together some cold frames.

That is lovely, thanks for sharing! My dad’s cold frames were very utilitarian, but there’s no reason they couldn’t be beautiful, too, like the one here.
