The Things Kids Say

2 yr. old Jada

Jada at 2 yrs. old

Kids crack me up. Seriously. Sometimes they just say the funniest stuff! I’ll never forget what Jada said to me one day when she was just two years old…

It was mid-morning, and I was trying to get my little girl into her play clothes and out the door. I was kneeling on the floor in front of her, doing my very best to catch her wiggly legs with the pants. Patiently I kept saying, “Jada, be still, baby.” “Jada, stop moving for a minute so I can get your pants on!” It was proving to be an impossible task. She wasn’t being bad or anything, just antsy!

After several seconds of struggling with her I sat back on my heels and let out a very frustrated, “UUUUGH!”

She stopped and looked at me, and said in all seriousness, “Mommy. Don’t be so spiciatated!” (Spi-shi-tate-ed).

I dropped my head and laughed. What a word for a two year old! I laughed so hard! When I finally caught my breath I smiled and said, “You’re right, I am spiciatated! Now hold still so I can get your pants on!!”

What a great way for the Lord to remind me not to let the little things be so overwhelming!

From then on it was our running joke with each other whenever we noticed the other getting frustrated over something.

Kids! My life would be so bland without them.

Do you remember something funny that your child said or did? I’d love to hear your stories!

My boys were having a difficult day and just fussing with each other most of the morning. My oldest son was 9 at the time and my youngest just turned 6. My oldest son had just pushed and pushed until my youngest son bit him on the shoulder. Biting is a MAJOR “no-no” and I asked my youngest “Why did you bite Dalton? You know that is not allowed.” My youngest proceeded to tell me that “Dalton had just made me mad and Mama, I’m hungry”. I had to go out of the room to laugh. I fixed him lunch as soon as I quit laughing…

lol, That is so funny! Sometimes it’s hard not to laugh in the middle of disciplining your child when they say something funny like that. Too cute :)

I just love your blog. My son is now 23 years old but I still remember one day when we were walking by a church and my asked who lived there. He was two at the time and I told him God did. His next response was can we go see Him, I really like how His house looks. I told him yes. The following Sunday I was really conviced and have never stoped going after that. Anyhow,When we went into the church he said so where is God. I said,” He is here you just don’t see Him like most people because He is God. If you ask Him in your heart He will always be with you were ever you go. After service he said to me. Mom I feel lost, I said then you need to ask God into your heart and He will show you the way to go. So we stoped where we were and prayed. It
is my most mererable moment with my son.

You are so right, life would be boring without them even when we are frustrated. I couldn’t imagine life without my son. I had so much fun with him.

What a precious story. Isn’t it beautiful how the Lord can teach us through even the littlest ones!

That’s our Jada. We remember Joe when he was 2 yrs. old watching Papa working under the car. Joe kept asking question after question. Finally, when Papa stopped explaining, Joe asked him if he was getting “exasperated”? Papa flew out from under the car & called “Mimi, Mimi, would you believe what Joe just asked me!”

One time when my son was young (4 I think), his grumpy grandfather was giving him a stern talking to. When he was finished, Travis just looked up and said – “I guess I’m not putting any flowers on YOUR grave!” lol

My daughter (3yrs) told my wife just this morning, “I washed your phone mama”. Yeah, I am currently looking for a new cell phone for my wife. Apparently holding it under the faucet was not as good of a thing as Elaina thought it would be.

My 3 year old has a cold. He said, “My blow hole doesn’t work.” Listening to their funny sayings keeps me going sometimes.
