Fess Up Friday: Pajama Mama

Fess Up Friday

Today’s confession… here goes,

Some days I just don’t get out of my pajamas.

As in, at all. Don’t get me wrong, I have every intention of getting out of them. I just get so busy!

There are just those days when I wake up and start the day full speed ahead. By lunch time I realize I’m still in my pajamas, and I head to my room to change. But then I remember that I haven’t fed the animals yet, so I decide that’s more important. I throw a coat on over my pj’s and head outside. When I come back in the kids inevitably need tending to, and once again I get distracted.

It’s one thing after another, until I’m making dinner and I look down and realize I’m still in my pajamas!

And then I figure, Oh well, no point in changing now, I’ll be going to bed soon!

Oh, and there are also those days when I have nothing clean to put on, so again I resort to sportin’ my pj’s.

It’s terrible. I know. It’s lazy. It’s sloppy. It’s a horrible example to my children. Don’t judge me. It’s just the way it is! Some days, I’m just a pajama mama! At least I don’t leave the house that way!

So there you have it.

Okay, you know the drill, now it’s your turn! I know I’m not the only mom out there who has her “off” days!

If you have a blog, and aren’t too embarrassed to spill the beans to millions of viewers, write up a short post confessing that less than perfect housekeeping secret you’ve been sweeping under the rug! Copy the Fess Up Friday logo and paste it into your post, then leave your link below to share with others!

This can be about cleaning “shortcuts”, mommy mistakes, recipe flops, forgetful minds… anything to get a laugh! I do reserve the right to delete any links to crude or inappropriate materials. Please leave a link directly to your Fess Up Friday post, and not your home page.

If you don’t blog, or would rather share your secrets anonymously (com’mon, they can’t be that bad!), you can leave your silly story in the comments section.

I’m not looking for a long post. Just a short admission reminding us all that we are all doing the best we can, and sometimes that just has to be good enough!! It won’t take long, and you’ll feel so much better getting it off your chest, *smiles*. So, you have no excuses!

;) it’s okay, I do that too somedays. I don’t think it is a horrible example for your kids, you are already showing them it is alright not to be perfect, which no one is, and that sometimes there are more important things than apperance. Your commitment to your family shines through it all, and besides, although it is nice to look nice and show pride in all you have been blessed with, the last thing we need is more people who value vanity over labours of love. Sometimes the best moments are the little ones, like when a parent lets you jump on the bed or come out at 2 or 3 in the morning with you to watch a meteor shower completely ruining your bedtime. Pajama days are the rebelious memories of tomorrow lol

I do the same thing a lot! I really intend to do better, but always get sidetracked!

OMG! That was going to be my confession – it does make laundry days easier though! Half as many clothes to wash. LOL. Some days I get up late and then surf the Net for a bit getting distracted or watching tv. It is so much more comfortable doing those things in Pjs and especially without a bra. Then I realize it is getting close to time for my hubby to come home so I rush around trying to make it look like I got a lot accomplished…showering or changing the clothes comes in last if I even have time. Sometimes I don’t have a chance and he’ll catch me and tease me. While other times [like when he has to work late] he says, “You’re already in your jammies for the night?” and I say, “Yep!” like I had clothes on and changed into jammies after I had dinner!

I am your Pajama Mama sister! ;-) I have a terrible habit of staying in my pjs until I absolutely have to get dressed. And if I’m fortunate enough to have a stay-at-home day, It’s very likely I’ll be in them come dinnertime. Yep, I have the same good intentions about getting dressed, but it just doesn’t happen. Since we live out in the toolies and don’t get lots of visitors, I don’t usually worry about it too much. Then comes the inevitable day when one of the young men from a neighboring farm stops by to see if my husband has a tool he can borrow, and I’m running around trying to find something to put on so I’m not answering the door in my jammies! Yikes! That’s pretty embarrassing – for the young man AND me! I’m a rather well-endowed woman who cherishes freedom from the dreaded bra, but it’s a bit unnerving to be facing a very proper young man, and I’m not wearing anything but thin cotton jammies – and I mean THAT’S ALL! And inevitably there’s no one but me to answer the door.

There, got THAT off my chest! WHEW!!!

I’ve had days like that, too!

Ok, here are my thoughts on this. You ARE getting things done, so who care what you are wearing when you are doing it? The only reason I put clothes on is because I wouldn’t get anything done. I don’t feel ready for the day until I am dressed. So if I stay in pajamas all day, it would be b/c I’m being lazy. And, then that would be bad! :0 And I have had days like that. Unless your husband like you in clothes, I wouldn’t worry about it. :)

As a matter of fact…I’m still in my pj’s right now! But it’s early yet ;) I definetly do the same thing some days!

I think you are all too quick at this… I am never the first one to post. Oh, well. It’s certanly not for lack of things to share. Kendra, you are not alone. When I was a stay at home Mom, I did the same thing and even now if I’m not going anywhere on Saturday, I start right in cleaning, laundry, animals, lunch, bread baking etc. Sunday School prep., dinner, and then I realize I never got dressed. This is especially true in the summer. Just throw on a pair of short and off you go. I’m not sure if it would be considered lazy, but my Mom probably would have thought so. Just business.

    Have a great PJ day :o )

    Liz G-

Yeah, I am definitely still getting things done! Sometimes I simply don’t get dressed because there are SO many other things that do need to be done, I feel like I’m wasting my time to stop and dress/put makeup on/brush my hair, etc. Who has time for that ;) I definitely don’t brush my hair and put makeup on unless I know somebody is coming over or I’ll be going out!

I only have one baby and I have days like that! Love reading about all your adventures. I can’t move to the country right now, but I’m learning how to build my own urban homestead! Just finished ordering my 1000 pound food order and grain mill!

I must be your pajama twin. Most days I manage to get my 4 yr old dressed b4 breakfast. The baby not so much, he gets out of his jammies often after he messes it up eating some time during the day. Yesterday my husband mentioned that it would be nice to come home and see me in something other than my nightie. Well I do try to get dressed before he gets home… but between homeschool, breastfeeding and mealtime not to mention naps it just doesn’t get done. I am not in my jammies as I write this moment but I am trying to do better for my dh sake. Some days its just all I can do keeping the kids clean and fed. A domestic diva I am not.Just trying to be a loving wife and mommy with God’s help.
