He’s Got A Job!

>3 May 2010

Well, today was day three of my husband’s new job!! We are SO incredibly thankful for him being able to find work somewhere. I realize that there are tons of people right now who cannot find anything. And so, I praise the Lord for that.

You know, for these past two months of Jerry being unemployed, I have felt like the woman in the Bible story where the Lord blesses her jars of oil so that they did not run out. Somehow our modest income from Jerry’s part time job has carried us through. Somehow we have not run out. We have been extremely frugal, and we have been eating a lot from our food storage, which I am so thankful that we had. But all in all, we have not had to do without any necessity.

Although the work arrangement is less than ideal, we cannot complain. It is work. And it is full time work. For that, we are grateful. We will pray  and trust that everything works out for the best, and hope that the circumstances improve quickly. I am also very happy that one of Jerry’s co-workers is a super nice fellow Christian. We had him and his family over for dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed their company. I look forward to cultivating a new friendship with them.

We refused to file for unemployment or any form of government assistance. We simply trusted that the Lord would provide, and left the burden at His alter. We are so blessed to have a Father who truly provides for His children when they allow him to do so.

As you may have noticed, I have now taken the Paypal Donations button off of the blog. I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for blessing us in our time of need. Having the extra money to keep our internet up and running, and knowing that there was money in that account should we run out of food or need to pay a bill, was such a weight off of my shoulders. You all blessed over and above our needs, and I am incredibly thankful to be surrounded by so many generous and caring people.

And I especially thank all of you who prayed for my family. I know that this is the reason we were able to find a good job quickly. Honestly, I was preparing for my husband to be out of work for much much longer than this! The Lord never ceases to amaze me.

So, tonight we are praising the Lord for a steady income once again! Thank you all, my friends, for being there for us through the ups and downs of our crazy life!! It has truly blessed my heart to have you with us.

Honey, Take it from a former business owner, Unemployment isn’t gov’t assistance….it is an insurance that an employer is required to pay into on behalf of his employees. It is mandated by the state, my state required all businesses with 500+ employees or $500,000 annual income to carry the insurance. Next time, don’t feel bad about filing…it’s there for a reason!!

Kendra that is great news. I agree with Chantel. I’ve had to let a few employees go this year and I give them the unemployment information and encourage them to file. My company has to pay for the insurance and I am glad to see my former employees use it while they recover.
Any way, praise God from whom all blessing flow! I’m guessing that you will be rebuilding your food storage soon, right?
