*This Giveaway has now ended. Congratulations to Kate!

In honor of my 2010 Men’s Holiday Gift Giving Guide, the kind people at Franklin Springs Family Media have joined up with me to offer one of you a copy of their Award Winning film A Journey Home. This DVD is sure to be a blessing to all who watch it, but I think would be especially encouraging to the men of the house.

My husband and I snuggled into our bed the other night, snacks in hand, and were both quickly drawn in by this wonderful documentary. The film follows a man named Tommy Waller as he takes his family from an average city life and moves them into an Amish community in the countryside of Tennessee. Tommy, his wife, and their 11 children live in their home, with no electricity, and farm the land to make their living.

Anybody who knows us would know that this totally appealed to me and Jerry! To watch the family working together, the children helping their parents with the chores and everyone pitching in at their produce stand in town, was incredibly beautiful.

The decisions this father made on behalf of his family were deeply rooted in their Spiritual beliefs. I must admit, it was convicting to watch how this family worshiped, prayed, and sang together, and how deeply their love for God was reflected even as they interacted with each other.

But after spending many years practicing simple living, their hearts began to turn to the mission field. As scary as it was to uproot the entire family and move to the other side of the world, they knew that if the Lord was calling them to do it that it would be their biggest regret if they did not obey.

I wish I could tell you the whole story, but you’ll just have to see it for yourself! Really, it is truly an inspiring story of a man who refused to accept the social norms, and instead to turn his heart and his family back to God.

What a blessing it was to us to watch A Journey Home, and what a blessing this film would be to a special man in your life!
