Homemade Poultry Seasoning Recipe

>1 August 2011

We’re so used to running to the store for every little thing a recipe might call for, aren’t we? Have you ever considered trying to make your own spice mixes? Poultry seasoning is one of those blends that is super easy to throw together yourself at home.

The next time a recipe you are using calls for poultry seasoning, instead of making a special trip to the store first see if you have what it takes to make it yourself! Creating your own custom spice blends is a great way to save grocery money in the spices department.

Poultry Seasoning

  • 2 tsp ground sage
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground thyme
  • 1 tsp ground marjoram
  • 3/4 tsp ground rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp finely ground black pepper

If you have a coffee grinder, or a mortar and pestal, you can get these spices ground nicely. It’s not a big deal if they aren’t finely ground, though. Just mix them up and store in an airtight container!

Have you ever made your own poultry seasoning?
