Printable Spelling Lists: 1-4th Grade

**Update: as of 1/9/12, This site is no longer free. Big fat bummer. There are a few pages that you can print at no cost, but the majority of them are for a fee. Crossing my fingers that they change their mind on this!!**

Super Teacher Worksheets

Above is a link to a sight that we use all the time for our spelling lessons. They offer three different printable worksheets for each spelling list. What we do around here is Monday-Wednesday I have Jada do one of the worksheets. On Thursday she does a practice test, and works on any words she had trouble remembering how to spell. Then on Friday we do a spelling test covering the words she’d worked on throughout the week.

This is a great site to check out. There are tons of other printable worksheets as well!

How does your family do spelling tests? Do you have a favorite website that you go to for help compiling spelling lists?

If you click the link, in the left toolbar you will see a link to the Spelling lists I created based on the Orton-Gillingham method of reading and phonics instruction.

    Angela-

Thanks so much for the link! It looks like a great list. I’m gonna print it off for my little girl’s lesson time. What grade levels are these words for? Just wondering.

We do a pretest on Monday. I get the words from books we are reading or our science unit (we’re science-oriented). We use these words throughout the week doing different activities. On Friday, he is tested on only the words he missed on Monday. We also include any new words on our word wall in the kitchen.

I love the Spelling City website (free). I use the Natural Speller for spelling lists, and then I set my children up with the Spelling City website for their activities.

I just adore hearing from my readers, so don't be shy!! Although I may not be able to respond to every single comment, I do read and appreciate every word of them. Knowing I have an audience keeps me writing, so take a moment to say hello and share what's on your mind!
